Ja­pan to pro­vide aid for pur­chases of ad­di­tional power tillers

The gov­ern­ment of Ja­pan will pro­vide a grant of 250 mil­lion Yen to Bhutan to pur­chase 353 power tillers.

Am­bas­sador V. Nam­gyel of Bhutan and Am­bas­sador Kenji Hi­ra­matsu of Ja­pan signed the Ex­change of Notes un­der the Ja­panese Grant Aid ‘The Project for Im­prove­ment of Farm Ma­chin­ery for Hir­ing Ser­vices of Til­lage’ on 18 Oc­to­ber 2016 in New Delhi.

Speak­ing at the sign­ing cer­e­mony held at the Ja­panese Em­bassy in New Delhi, Am­bas­sador V. Nam­gyel con­veyed the ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the Royal Gov­ern­ment of Bhutan to the Gov­ern­ment of Ja­pan for its stead­fast sup­port and gen­er­ous as­sis­tance to Bhutan’s de­vel­op­ment. He said that this project will help in im­prov­ing the liveli­hood of our farm­ers of Bhutan and fur­ther en­hance the food se­cu­rity for the peo­ple through im­proved agri­cul­ture pro­duc­tiv­ity.

Am­bas­sador V. Nam­gyel said that as Bhutan and Ja­pan cel­e­brates the 30th an­niver­sary of the es­tab­lish­ment of diplo­matic re­la­tions, this project stands as yet an­other im­por­tant tes­ti­mony of the ex­cel­lent ties of re­la­tion­ship and co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun- tries. He said that Bhutan has ben­e­fited greatly from Ja­panese as­sis­tance in many ar­eas of de­vel­op­ment and con­veyed the deep ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the Royal Gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of Bhutan to the gov­ern­ment and peo­ple of Ja­pan for their con­tin­ued as­sis­tance and friend­ship.
