Japan to provide aid for purchases of additional power tillers
The government of Japan will provide a grant of 250 million Yen to Bhutan to purchase 353 power tillers.
Ambassador V. Namgyel of Bhutan and Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu of Japan signed the Exchange of Notes under the Japanese Grant Aid ‘The Project for Improvement of Farm Machinery for Hiring Services of Tillage’ on 18 October 2016 in New Delhi.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi, Ambassador V. Namgyel conveyed the appreciation of the Royal Government of Bhutan to the Government of Japan for its steadfast support and generous assistance to Bhutan’s development. He said that this project will help in improving the livelihood of our farmers of Bhutan and further enhance the food security for the people through improved agriculture productivity.
Ambassador V. Namgyel said that as Bhutan and Japan celebrates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, this project stands as yet another important testimony of the excellent ties of relationship and cooperation between the two coun- tries. He said that Bhutan has benefited greatly from Japanese assistance in many areas of development and conveyed the deep appreciation of the Royal Government and people of Bhutan to the government and people of Japan for their continued assistance and friendship.
