Bhutan Am­bas­sador presents cre­den­tials to Pres­i­dent of Sin­ga­pore

Bhutan am­bas­sador to Sin­ga­pore Tshe­wang Chophel Dorji pre­sented his cre­den­tials to the Pres­i­dent of Sin­ga­pore Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam at a cer­e­mony on Oc­to­ber 27, 2016 ac­cred­it­ing him as Am­bas­sador of the King­dom of Bhutan to the Repub­lic of Sin­ga­pore.

Fol­low­ing the cer­e­mony and meet­ing with the Pres­i­dent, Am­bas­sador Tshe­wang C. Dorji con­veyed the warm greet­ings and best wishes of His Majesty the King and the Prime Min­is­ter to the Pres­i­dent. He ex­pressed the deep ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the Royal Gov­ern­ment for Sin­ga­pore’s as­sis­tance and con­tin­ued sup­port par- tic­u­larly in ed­u­ca­tion and hu­man re­source de­vel­op­ment. The Am­bas­sador also ex­pressed his com­mit­ment to con­tinue ex­pand­ing and strength­en­ing the bi­lat­eral re­la­tions be­tween Bhutan and Sin­ga­pore.

The Pres­i­dent con­grat­u­lated the Am­bas­sador on his ap­point­ment and ex­pressed his hope that the ex­ist­ing re­la­tions be­tween the two coun­tries will be fur­ther en­hanced dur­ing the Am­bas­sador’s ten­ure. The Pres­i­dent high­lighted that tourism and eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion have great po­ten­tial in pro­mot­ing re­la­tions be­tween the coun­tries. The Pres­i­dent said that the peo­ple of Sin­ga­pore were deeply touched by the visit of Their Majesties The King and Queen in March 2015 for the state fu­neral of their Late Prime Min­is­ter and found­ing fa­ther Lee Kuan Yew.

Bhutan and Sin­ga­pore es­tab­lished for­mal diplo­matic re­la­tions on 20th Septem­ber 2002. Am­bas­sador Tshe­wang C. Dorji is the fifth Am­bas­sador to be ac­cred­ited to Sin­ga­pore.
