Bhutan Am­bas­sador in South Korea

Bhutan’s Am­bas­sador to the Repub­lic of Korea, Sonam T Rab­gye vis­ited Seoul from 30 Oc­to­ber-3 Novem­ber 2016 to at­tend the cer­e­mony for pre­sent­ing cre­den­tials to Ms. Park Geun-hye, Pres­i­dent of the Repub­lic of Korea on 1st Novem­ber 2016

Fol­low­ing the pre­sen­ta­tion of his letter of cre­dence, Am­bas­sador Rab­gye con­veyed the good wishes of His Majesty the King, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Prime Min­is­ter and the Peo­ple of Bhutan. He re­it­er­ated Bhutan‘s firm com­mit­ment to work closely with the Repub­lic of Korea to fur­ther en­hance the close ties of co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries.

Dur­ing the visit, Am­bas­sador met with se­nior gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials in­clud­ing the Deputy For­eign Min­is­ter of Po­lit­i­cal Af­fairs, Vice Pres­i­dent for Projects and Re­gional Co­or­di­na­tion of Korea In­ter­na­tional Co­op­er­a­tion Agency (KOICA), the Chief of Pro­to­col to the Pres­i­dent of Korea, and held dis­cus­sion on is­sues of mu­tual in­ter­est. Am­bas­sador Rab­gye also met with Bhutanese stu­dents in Korea and was also in­ter­viewed by re­puted news agen­cies in Korea.

The two coun­tries will be cel­e­brat­ing the 30th An­niver­sary of the es­tab- lish­ment of diplo­matic re­la­tions in Sep­tem­ber 2017 and the oc­ca­sion will be ob­served with year-long ac­tiv­i­ties in both coun­tries.

Am­bas­sador Rab­gye is the Am­bas­sador of Bhutan to Bangladesh with con­cur­rent ac­cred­i­ta­tion to the Repub­lic of Korea, Mal­dives, Sri Lanka and Pak­istan.
