HRH The Gyalsey’s jour­ney through the year

The whole na­tion has come to­gether to mark and cel­e­brate the first birth an­niver­sary of His Royal High­ness (HRH) The Gyalsey, Jigme Nam­gyel Wagchuck. To­day is no or­di­nary day for Bhutan.

Many spe­cial events are or­ga­nized across the coun­try.

Kurims are be­ing con­ducted by Zhung Drat­shang in Tashich­hod­zong and all other rabdeys. The Ser­tok of Druk­gyel Dzong is also be­ing of­fered to­day.

The monks are recit­ing Kan­jurs and bums across the coun­try.

Ly­onchen Tsh­er­ing Tobgay also an­nounced that the con­struc­tion of chort­ens in Thrumsh­ingla and Pelela will start from to­day.

Peo­ple from all walks of life are cel­e­brat­ing their Gyalsey’s birth­day to­day.

Karma, 30, a house­wife said that HRH the Gyalsey’s birth an­niver­sary marks an im­por­tant day in the coun­try.

“He rep­re­sents the brighter fu­ture of our coun­try,” she said.

Nam­gay Lhamo, 50, a busi­ness woman also said she is blessed to see this day.

“I pray for healthy and long life of HRH The Gyalsey,” she said, fur­ther adding Bhutan and its peo­ple has a great fu­ture.

Mean­while, Shell­don, an in­ter­na­tional an­i­mated movie dubbed in Dzongkha will also be launched to­day. This an­i­mated movie is a gift from HRH The Gyalsey to the chil­dren of the coun­try.

HRH The Gyalsey Jigme Nam­gyel Wangchuck was born on Fe­bru­ary 5, 2016 on Fri­day at the Lingkana Palace in Thim­phu.

Fol­low­ing the Royal birth, the Prince was first pre­sented to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

The next day af­ter the birth, His Majesty of­fered prayers at the Tashich­hod­zong, Dechen­phug Lhakhang, Pan­gri Zampa Lhakhang, and the Ge­sar Lhakhang.

Later on April 15, 2016, their Majesties along with HRH the Gyalsey vis­ited and of­fered prayers in Changangkha Lhakhang be­fore mov­ing to Pu­nakha for the nam­ing cer­e­mony of HRH the Gyalsey.

On the aus­pi­cious oc­ca­sion of Zhab­drung ku­choe, April 16, 2016, the nam­ing cer­e­mony of HRH the Gyalsey was held in­side the sa­cred Machen Lhakhang in Pu­nakha Dzong.

Then the name was fi­nally re­vealed by His Majesty to the crowd of about 10,000 peo­ple.

Jigme means fear­less, Nam­gyel means vic­to­ri­ous in all di­rec­tions and vic­tory over all ob­sta­cles, and Wangchuck is the name of the Royal Wangchuck Dy­nasty. And thus, HRH the Gyalsey Jigme Nam­gyel Wangchuck is na­tion’s fu­ture.

Go­ing back to the year the Gyalsey was born; peo­ple of Gyelphoz­ing had the first glimpse of the Gyalsey on June 11. Peo­ple of Gyelphoz­ing were de­lighted to wel­come HRH the Gyalsey to the east.

On June 15, 2016, HRH ar­rived in Dungkhar, the an­ces­tral home of the Wangchuck Dy­nasty. This day was also an im­mensely aus­pi­cious oc­ca­sion, the birth an­niver­sary of Guru Rin­poche.

Their Majesties and HRH of­fered prayers at the Guru Lhakhang in the Nagt­shang, which houses im­por­tant nangtens of Guru Rin­poche and Pema Lingpa.

His Majesty the King also per­son­ally en­tered His Royal High­ness’ name in an an­cient doc­u­ment that bears the name of the Wangchuck Dy­nasty.

Later in the year, their Majesties with HRH the Gyalsey vis­ited Bumthang on Au­gust 9, 2016. On the next day HRH was taken to Chumey, the an­ces­tral ma­ter­nal home of Her Majesty the Gyalt­suen.

On Au­gust 13, 2016, His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Gyalt­suen, and HRH the Gyalsey graced the con­se­cra­tion of the Guru Nangsid Zil­non Pho­drang in Bumthang.

Their Majesties also vis­ited Kurje Lhakhang and Lho­drak Karchu Monastery with HRH the Gyalsey and of­fered prayers.

Hindu com­mu­nity had a spe­cial day to re­mem­ber of the Gyalsey’s first year. On Oc­to­ber 11, 2016, HRH cel­e­brate Das­sain with them.

Then came the 109th Na­tional Day cel­e­bra­tion in Trongsa. Thou­sands from across the coun­try gath­ered to get the first glimpse of beloved Gyalsey.

Fol­low­ing the Na­tional Day, His Majesty the King with HRH the Gyalsey vis­ited the Trongsa Dzong on De­cem­ber 18.

This day marked a sym­bolic oc­ca­sion of the ar­rival of fu­ture Trongsa Pen­lop along with the Past and Present King of the coun­try.

HRH the Gyalsey also vis­ited the an­ces­tral pa­ter­nal home of Her Majesty in Tangsi­bji. The peo­ple cel­e­brated the joy­ful mo­ment where His Majesty also granted a Tokha to the peo­ple.

And now one year to­day since his birth, HRH The Gyalsey has melted hearts of the Bhutanese. HRH is also a sen­sa­tional heart­throb glob­ally.
