S peaking at the First Global Happiness Dialogue in Dubai, UAE, Lyonchhen reminded the participants of the social disruptions, political instabilities and affects of climate change that the world faced in the year 2016. He said that “after a difficult 2016, it is a good idea to kick off 2017 by talking about happiness in general, and the role of government in creating happiness in particular.” Lyonchhen said that it is important for the Governments to take happiness seriously by making it a public good rather than relegating it as an individual pursuit.

Sharing the Bhutanese experiences of Gross National Happiness, Lyonchhen attributed the successes to the leadership of our Monarchs. Lyonchhen concluded his statement with the prayer “May the sun of peace and happiness, shine over all people, all over the world, for all time.”

Lyonchhen arrived in Dubai, UAE on Friday at the invitation of Her Excellency Ohood Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, UAE’s Minister of State for Happiness and Vice Chair of the World Government Summit.
