New Permanent Representative of Bhutan to UN presents credentials to UN Secretary – General
The newly appointed Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Doma Tshering presented her credentials to the UN Secretary – General, Antonio Guterres on the morning of 13th September 2017 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Ambassador Doma Tshering is the 11th Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations. She was appointed as the Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bhutan to the United Nations on 25 August 2017 following Royal Kasho dated 14 August 2017. Following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Doma Tshering called on the Secretary – General, during which she conveyed the greeting of His Majesty The King and discussed ways to further strengthen engagement and cooperation between Bhutan and the United Nations. The Secretary – General recalled his visit to Bhutan in 2007 and lauded Bhutan’s commitment to sustainable development and transition to democracy.
