His Majesty The King granted an Audience to Indian Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jaishankar on 3rd October, who is on a 3-day visit to Bhutan
Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the Foreign Secretary of India was on an official visit to Bhutan from 2-5 October 2017 on the invitation from the government. The Foreign Secretary was accompanied Mrs. Kyoko Jaishankar and Sudhakar Dalela, Joint Secretary (North), Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India.
During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar received audience with His Majesty The King, His Majesty The Forth Druk Gyalpo and called on Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister, Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Foreign Minister and other senior government officials.
The official engagements include discussions on the overall bilateral cooperation, review of the ongoing 11th Plan and exchange of views on the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Bhutan in 2018. The year 2018 will mark the completion of 50 years since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1968 during which bilateral relations grew from strength to strength.
The visit reinforces the tradition of regular highlevel exchanges between the two countries and upholds and strengthens the special and exceptional age-old friendship between Bhutan and India.
