Lyonchhen meets people under Punakha Dzongkhag
Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Lyonchhen met the people of Kabjisa Gewog under Punakha Dzongkhag yesterday.
Lyonchhen said that when the windstorm in May this year affected the people of Kabjisa he was saddened but the immediate Kidu relief from His Majesty the King and people’s hard-work post the windstorm has brought Kabjisa back to its glory.
Lyonchhen said that the government in its capacity will try its best to work toward Kabjisa’s development and that the people must share the work with the government by being responsible.
He talked to the people on the decentralization efforts from the govern- ment and how the Gewog Development Grant and Dzongkhag Development Grant has been granted funds to carry out important activities in the gewog and Dzongkhag not included in the five year plans.
Lyonchhen said that the government will construct roads and the people should work to maintain the roads. He also urged the people to use the opportunities provided by the government and work hard. He mentioned about the rural loan opportunity from Rural Enterprise Development Corporation Limited (REDCL) which in Kabjisa has been availed by 22 people for diary production, vegetable works and wood based production works.
He conveyed his ap- preciation to the people on having availed services from REDCL and others who have shown interest in the same.
The people of Kabjisa urged Lyonchhen for a waste disposal site for the gewog. Lyonchhen thanked the people for such wise thoughts and urged the Gup and the Dzongkhag to look into the matter.
Lyonchhen also spoke to the people on using biogas. He said that the people of Kabjisa have dairy farms and so biogas would be feasible.
The people of Kabjisa thanked His Majesty The King for the immediate Kidu relief during the May windstorm and for working towards the continued welfare of the people. His Majesty The King personally visited the people Kabjisa after the windstorm in May this year.
Lyonchhen has met the people of 195 of the 205 gewogs in the country over Gewog zomdus. Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Health Minister who looks after Wangduephodrang and Punakha Dzongkhags and the Member of Parliament from Kabji-Talo, Dophu accompanied the Prime Minister.
