Lyonchhen graces a decade of DHI’s journey
Dasho Tshering Tobgay Lyonchhen graced the “A decade of DHI’s journey “at a function held yesterday.
Speaking at ‘A decade of DHI’s Journey’ this morning, an event which was graced by His Majesty the King, Lyonchhen (Dasho) Tshering Tobgay said, “You are fulfilling your responsibility in being the real backbone of our economy. The test of a company and a person is to see how a person rises back after falling down. DHI fits this example.”
Lyonchhen said that DHI has continued to work hard not just for its own survival but to ensure its mandate. He stressed, “You should not and cannot fail.”
Thanking the DHI family for making him a part of their celebrations, Lyonchhen said that what we are today is the manifest of what our monarchs have envisaged and built. “We can talk about education, access to primary healthcare, medication. These are free and will remain free because of the efforts His Majesty The King has put in,” he added explaining on the efficient and uncompromising welfare system the country has.
Lyonchhen narrated his journey with Druk Green Power Corporation Limited, a company of DHI. He said that within his scope of his experience, the DGPC has evolved and has been growing. He exemplified on starting from initiating the building of our own tunnels; to using its research and consulting service to add to the potential of Tala; to partnering with International Companies to research and prepare detailed project report in other countries; the DGPC has been doing a lot.
Similarly, he mentioned that the Bank of Bhutan, Bhutan National Bank, Loden Foundation, all within the realms of DHI has touched lives with their loan schemes and entrepreneurship opportunities. He added that the DHI has also shown example to the government through their Compact Signing - which Lyon- chhen said has been incorporated in the government through the Government Performance Management System (GPMS).
To mark the day DHI started Bhutan Future Fund with a principal transfer of Nu.300M; launched a book titled ‘DHI’s Journey: The last 10 years’ and awarded the Longest Serving employees of the DHI companies.
Lyonchhen ended by congratulating DHI and urging DHI to make all their companies GNH certified companies with assessment from the Center from Bhutan Studies (CBS). This is said would be no better tribute to His Majesty The Fourth King.
Lyonpo Lekey Dorji, Minister for Economic Affairs, senior government officials and employees of DHI were also present for the event.
