Winter vacation a time for fun and learning

Bhutan Times - - Home - Thinley Choda

Students eagerly waited after a long period of study and tiresome schedule for a peaceful vacation. Student hopes and waits for the entire year for winter vacation with a hope to explore something new and spend times with families and friends.

Parents in rural areas gets an opportunity for their children to come back home and give an additional helping hand for household works and for urban parents, it’s time for them to send their child in some good programs so that they can learn something new and get engage in something productive.

Some students get engage in doing some temporary job and earn some money for the next semester. Getting employed is not necessary, any activity that the students pursue during the break, be it reading, playing sport, dancing and singing should be also encouraged.

A student of Lungtenzampa MSS, Dorji Tshewang said, “I am always excited and eagerly waiting for winter vacation for a long time, as during this time, I can help my parents as they have been always busy helping me and other siblings leaving behind their busy schedule.”

This is an important time for parents to spend time with their children in their care as this is a time where they can share and bond together and give a good lesson for their children.

Another student from Mothithang HSS, Tashi Wangmo said that “Winter vacation is a paradise time for all the students, I was eagerly waiting for the vacation and I have already plan for my vacation long time back to go and meet my grandparents at Bumthang and visit Sikkim with other siblings and cousins for a time to spend my vacation.”

Parents must talk with their children, to find out what they plan to do. They have to share what they think to do and the parents should see that they do not involve in anything bad that influence them from going in wrong path.

Winter vacation is not always a time for rejoining with their families and doing temporary job but for some it’s a time for going and pursuing their passion, they are the group of students who are well interested in sports more than anything.

Another 19 years old student from Yangchenphug HSS, Tshewang Norbu said, “Now I am finally relax and pursue my another dream to play football with my friends besides reading a book, now I don’t have any pressure regarding my studies so I can concentrate on my passion.”

Perusing their passion: Winter vacation is not always a time for rejoining with their families and doing temporary job but for some it’s a time for going and pursuing their passion for the students
