To commemorate the 60th Birth Anniversary of Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, the Young Volunteers in Action (Y-VIA) of Youth Development Fund have organized blood donation camp on 23 December in 18 Dzongkhags.

The Thimphu Y-VIA have organized the blood donation camp at Youth Development Fund (YDF) premises.

Joshina Gurung, a teacher of Yangchengphu Higher Secondary School said that the idea of blood donation campaign was to help and save lives of others. “When we donate blood, we save lives of other people.”

The donation was also held to commemorate Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck birth anniversary. YDF have also planted dog wood around the compound on the day. Joshina Gurung said, “We also decided to plant trees as when we plant trees we are also saving lives directly or indirectly,” she said, adding that has direct connection to all the actions that Gyalyum has done so far at the different phrases.

Joshina Gurung said, “We mostly involve youth when there is any programs at national level because they have lots of capacity to carry out the program.”

The themed “Saving Lives” to commemorate birth anniversary of Gyalyum Tseyring Pem Wangchuck will last for the next year 2018.
