MONK PLANTS TREES
A 51-year-old monk has planted more than 5,500 trees and is planning on planting thousand more. Tashi Dorji of Phongmed in Trashigang after returning from India in 1999 started planting hundreds of saplings every year. He planted over 200 walnut trees and to mark the birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey, he planted 108 more trees near Lhakhang. According to Tashi Dorji, he hopes that his passion will inspire other to take up tree plantation as he believes in both religion and science giving importance to planting trees.
