PM MARKS SOUTH ASIA SATEL­LITE LAUNCH WITH VIDEO CHAT

The South Asia Satel­lite or GSAT-9, which is a gift from In­dia to its neigh­bor­ing coun­tries, was suc­cess­fully launched on May 5 from Satish Dhawan Space Cen­ter in Sri­harikota, Andhra Pradesh, In­dia.

Fol­low­ing the launch Ly­onch­hen Tsh­er­ing Tob­gay took part in a joint video con­fer­ence held among the Prime Min­is­ters of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, In­dia, Mal­dives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, to mark the launch of the South Asia Satel­lite.

Speak­ing on the ben­e­fits of the satel­lite, Ly­onch­hen said it would boost re­gional co­op­er­a­tion and en­cour­age joint col­lab­o­ra­tion to sup­port sus­tain­able devel­op­ment goals and ad­dress many of the re­gional chal­lenges that we face par­tic­u­larly in elim­i­nat­ing poverty among oth­ers.
