MOH CONFIRMS TYPHOID OUTBREAK

After 23 in­di­vid­u­als were de­tected with the bac­te­rial in­fec­tion yesterday, the Min­istry of Health (MoH) con­firmed that there is an outbreak of Typhoid in Changzam­tok area in Thim­phu.

Royal Cen­ter for Disease Con­trol con­firmed that the pri­vate wa­ter source is con­tam­i­nated and un­fit for drink­ing. How­ever, the au­thor­ity con­firmed that wa­ter from the city cor­po­ra­tion is fit for drink­ing. Gen­eral pub­lic are asked to drink boiled wa­ter, to wash their hands with soap after and be­fore eat­ing and also after go­ing to toi­let. The first case of typhoid was re­ported on Wed­nes­day.
