Business Bhutan - - Ntaion -

Wild elephants killed three calves and a cow at Gaden village under Umling Gewog in Sarpang. The elephants also destroyed banana and areca nut trees. The incident occurred at night when villagers spotted four elephants with a calf in the village. Local residents suspect the incident to have occurred after the elephants failed to rescue its calf which had fallen into the cemented cow dung pit. The elephants had left the spot in the morning leaving behind the calf in the pit. With the help of forest officials, the villagers rescued the elephant calf and released it into the forest.
