Bhutan Kuen-Nyam Party (BKP) an­nounced the can­di­dacy of the for­mer fi­nance sec­re­tary Lam Dorji from Bji-Kat­sho-Uesu con­stituency in Haa at the open­ing of its Dzongkhag party of­fice on Jan­uary 31 in Haa. Lam Dorji, 61, who is from Dum­cho vil­lage in Uesu Ge­wog, re­tired from govern­ment ser­vices in July 2016 af­ter serv­ing for nearly four decades, mostly in the fi­nance min­istry. The press re­lease from the party states that Lam Dorji holds a char­tered ac­coun­tancy de­gree from Char­tered Man­age­ment In­sti­tute of Ac­counts from Lon­don and has a Master of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion from Univer­sity of Wales in the UK. He worked as a con­sul­tant for UNDP in mat­ters re­lated to fis­cal de­cen­tral­iza­tion and sus­tain­able fi­nanc­ing, and gave talks on na­tional econ­omy and fi­nance man­age­ment.
