CUS­TOM OF­FI­CIALS SEIZE FOR­EIGN CUR­RENCY

Cus­tom of­fi­cials in Paro seized for­eign cur­rency worth US$ 227,000 from two women who were trav­el­ling to Bangkok on Fe­bru­ary 7.

Ac­cord­ing to the cus­toms rules, pas­sen­gers are not al­lowed to carry more than US$ 10,000 with­out seek­ing clear­ance. The two women, aged 25 and 35, were from Tang­machu in Lhuntse.

An­other man was caught by the cus­tom of­fi­cials in Paro on Fe­bru­ary 9 for car­ry­ing for­eign cur­rency of US$ 100,000. The 33-yearold is from Maedt­sho in Lhuntse and was leav­ing for Bangkok.
