‘A WOMAN OF PURE HEART’ BAGS BEST FILM AWARD

The fifth doc­u­men­tary and short film awards which was held on May 2 in Thim­phu saw 16 films and doc­u­men­taries, in­clud­ing an an­i­mated film take part.

A 32-minute film ‘A woman of pure heart’ bagged the best film award 2018. It is a story about ru­ral-ur­ban mi­gra­tion, un­em­ploy­ment, women em­pow­er­ment and lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tion.

The film tells the story about a grad­u­ate who leaves her vil­lage to travel to town in search of job. The film writ­ten and di­rected by Kin­ley Kinga Tsh­er­ing touches on how the grad­u­ate’s life changes af­ter be­ing raped by her in-law and the strug­gles she en­dures.

The film ends on a pos­i­tive note with the vic­tim get­ting elected to run a lo­cal gov­ern­ment.
