MOR­TU­ARY, CAN­TEEN AND A GYM TO RE­PLACE THE PARK­ING SPACE

The base­ment of the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck Na­tional Referral Hos­pi­tal (JDWNRH) which is cur­rently be­ing used as a park­ing will be con­verted into a can­teen, a gym for the staffs and a mor­tu­ary.

The rear side of the base­ment ar­eas which is never used by peo­ple is left filled with cig­a­rette butts and the stench of urine. The space at the rear side of the area which has a door to the hos­pi­tal will be con­verted into a mor­tu­ary. The rest of the space is to be con­verted into a can­teen and gym for the staffs where out­siders will not be al­lowed.

The can­teen is for the hos­pi­tal staffs work­ing for 24 hours whereby the can­teen will pro­vide food at a sub­si­dized rate.

ARMY PER­SON­NEL AR­RESTED FOR AL­LEGED RAPE OF A MI­NOR

Sarpang po­lice has de­tained a 46-year-old Non - Com­mis­sioned Of­fi­cer (NCO) of the Royal Bhutan Army from Wing IX in Pel­rithang, Gele­phu, for an al­leged rape of a 9-year-old stu­dent. The in­ci­dent hap­pened on May 12, when the girl went with her mother to the farm. RBA will also file a case against him for breach­ing the mil­i­tary code of con­duct. The sol­dier was ar­rested on May 24 and has con­fessed to the crime.

BRAWL LEADS TO ONE DEATH IN PHUENTSHOL­ING

On the night of May 25, around 11pm at the lower mar­ket in Phuentshol­ing, two groups were in­volved in a fight af­ter a heated ar­gu­ment in­side the res­tau­rant. A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death and other vic­tim was also stabbed in the in­ci­dent and was re­ferred to Thim­phu hos­pi­tal the same night. Both the sus­pects are in po­lice cus­tody for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

TWO CHIL­DREN TO REP­RE­SENT BHUTAN AT GAZPROM

Rigzin Ten­zin and Kin­ley Yang­zom, the se­lected 12 year old ambassadors from Bhutan will be on their way to Rus­sia on June 8 to par­tic­i­pate in the 6th Gazprom Football for Friend­ship In­ter­na­tional Pro­gram. They will be joined by kids from over 210 coun­tries around the world, in Moscow.

TRADE OF­FI­CER CON­VICTED FOR BANNED SUB­STANCES

Chukha Dzongkhag Court sen­tenced a Min­istry of Eco­nomic Af­fairs, Trade Of­fi­cer to five years in prison for il­licit traf­fick­ing of nar­cotic drugs and psy­chotropic sub­stance. Sus­pect was ar­rested on Oc­to­ber 29 2017 af­ter Gedu po­lice found 70 cap­sules of SP+ in his jacket and tested pos­i­tive for tra­madol.
