AMERICAN AARON BAYARD WINS THE TOUR OF THE DRAGON TITLE 2018
Aaron Bayard, an American won the ninth edition of Tour of the Dragon one-day mountain biking race by completing in 11 hours 11 minutes and 42 seconds. Norbu and Tashi Namgyal from Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) came second and third respectively. The 268km race is considered the toughest one-day mountain bike race in the world due to the distance, high elevation and varying climatic conditions across the race field. Around 48 bikers participated in this year’s Tour of the Dragon race including 17 international participants.
In the other race, Chimi Dema and Jonathan Redman from Australia defend Dragon’s Fury titles. A total of 68 bikers took part in Dragon’s Fury – 35 in senior men category, 26 in junior boys, six in senior women, and a lone participant in the junior girls’ category. The 60km race flagged off from Punakha.
