AMER­I­CAN AARON BAYARD WINS THE TOUR OF THE DRAGON TI­TLE 2018

Aaron Bayard, an Amer­i­can won the ninth edi­tion of Tour of the Dragon one-day moun­tain bik­ing race by com­plet­ing in 11 hours 11 min­utes and 42 sec­onds. Norbu and Tashi Nam­gyal from Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) came sec­ond and third re­spec­tively. The 268km race is con­sid­ered the tough­est one-day moun­tain bike race in the world due to the dis­tance, high el­e­va­tion and vary­ing cli­matic con­di­tions across the race field. Around 48 bik­ers par­tic­i­pated in this year’s Tour of the Dragon race in­clud­ing 17 in­ter­na­tional par­tic­i­pants.

In the other race, Chimi Dema and Jonathan Red­man from Aus­tralia de­fend Dragon’s Fury ti­tles. A to­tal of 68 bik­ers took part in Dragon’s Fury – 35 in se­nior men cat­e­gory, 26 in ju­nior boys, six in se­nior women, and a lone par­tic­i­pant in the ju­nior girls’ cat­e­gory. The 60km race flagged off from Pu­nakha.
