Thimphu police arrested five boys aged 13 to 18 years for their alleged involvement in robbery on September 21.

They have extorted and stole cell phones, car keys and cash from the Khasadrapchu area in Thimphu.

The incident happened on the day when the complainant, a 42-year-old man was with a friend in a car at a place called Langtagsa, near Khasadrapchu in Thimphu. One of the boys pelted stones and broke the car’s glass. The man managed to escape from the scene and inform the police. The suspects were arrested on the same night. Upon further investigation, the police found out the suspects were involved in three similar cases earlier. They had robbed cell phones and about Nu 13,000 from the victims. The first case was reported to the police in May last year. However, even after several operations to trace out the culprits, they were not successful due to the area being vast.
