RMA HANDS OVER NET SURPLUS OF NU 1.5BN TO GOVERNMENT
The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) handed over a net surplus of over Nu 1.5bn to the finance ministry on Wednesday. The amount is the annual surplus of the financial year 20172018. It is an increase of close to Nu 550mn from the surplus transfer of the financial year 2016-17.A press release from RMA states the increase in its annual surplus reflects, to some extent, better reserve management, with the net interest income from the investment contributing over Nu 249mn. The gross international reserves remain at a little over US$ 1bn. It also states these developments reflect a sound economy and efficient management of reserves by the RMA.
