RMA HANDS OVER NET SUR­PLUS OF NU 1.5BN TO GOV­ERN­MENT

The Royal Mon­e­tary Author­ity (RMA) handed over a net sur­plus of over Nu 1.5bn to the fi­nance min­istry on Wed­nes­day. The amount is the an­nual sur­plus of the fi­nan­cial year 20172018. It is an in­crease of close to Nu 550mn from the sur­plus trans­fer of the fi­nan­cial year 2016-17.A press re­lease from RMA states the in­crease in its an­nual sur­plus re­flects, to some ex­tent, bet­ter re­serve man­age­ment, with the net in­ter­est in­come from the in­vest­ment con­tribut­ing over Nu 249mn. The gross in­ter­na­tional re­serves re­main at a lit­tle over US$ 1bn. It also states th­ese de­vel­op­ments re­flect a sound econ­omy and ef­fi­cient man­age­ment of re­serves by the RMA.
