En­thu­si­ast wins BoB quiz ten times

A class XII grad­u­ate, Tsh­er­ing Dorji from Wam­rong in Trashigang has the rep­u­ta­tion of a mav­er­ick af­ter win­ning the Bank of Bhutan (BoB) quiz ten times so far.

BoB posts its quiz ques­tions on their Face­book page ev­ery Mon­day at 12:30pm.

The quiz was started to pro­mote a fun way for clients to know about the bank’s prod­ucts and ser­vices and in the process also help im­prove one’s gen­eral knowl­edge. It also pro­vides an op­por­tu­nity to in­ter­act with clients and pro­voke dis­cus­sion and healthy de­bate among the par­tic­i­pants.

It was launched last year in Oc­to­ber dur­ing the Royal High­land fes­ti­val.

Tsh­er­ing Dorji cur­rently works at the Depart­ment of In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty un­der In­dus­trial Prop­erty divi­sion, Min­istry of Eco­nomic Af­fairs.

He is very en­thu­si­as­tic about gen­eral knowl­edge. He par­tic­i­pates in the quiz ev­ery week. How­ever, he missed the quiz till ques­tion 27 be­cause he did not have idea of the quiz.

The ques­tions are gen­eral and some are re­lated to banks. So far it has reached 45 ques­tions.

The Head PR and Me­dia of BoB, Pas­sang Norbu said ques­tions in­clude sports, cul­ture, cur­rent events and the bank’s prod­ucts and ser­vices to cre­ate aware­ness among clients.

Tsh­er­ing Dorji said that he heard about the quiz from his friend.

“Then I started to re­search the bank ser­vices and other gen­eral knowl­edge ques­tions. I even made a note­book for GK,” he said.

The re­spon­dents have to an­swer to the quiz ques­tions im­me­di­ately as soon as they are posted by BoB.

“First, I used to set the alarm to re­mind me to take the quiz. As soon as the alarm rang, I re­laxed for few a min­utes even dur­ing busy hours,” said Tsh­er­ing.

He said some ques­tions are easy to an­swer while for some he would browse the net. BoB awards prizes to the win­ner like diaries, wal­lets and Royal wed­ding com­mem­o­ra­tive Nu 100 note.

He said he will con­tinue to par­tic­i­pate in the fu­ture. “I am a hard­work­ing per­son and very in­ter­ested to learn more,” he said.

Pas­sang Norbu said that BoB started with prizes of Nu 100/99 B-mo­bile or T-Cell vouch­ers through mBoB along with a BoB di­ary and slowly in­cluded the Golden Ju­bilee cor­po­rate gifts (wal­let, hat and Pen) and also items from part­ners such as foot­ball from Bhutan Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion, sports shirts from Bhutan Olympic Com­mit­tee and Royal Wed­ding coins and notes from RMA.

This week is the 45th week of the quiz. BoB awards a weekly prize to the first 10 cor­rect an­swers. BoB has al­ready awarded 400 plus win­ners with some yet to col­lect their prize. Prizes can be col­lected ei­ther by the win­ner or their rep­re­sen­ta­tive.
