FOREX COUNTERS AT PARO AIRPORT MAKE USD 2MN
The Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) collected USD 1mn in a little more than a year (369 days) from the foreign exchange counter that it had set up at the Paro International Airport.
The amount collected is in addition to about USD 0.9mn that the Bank of Bhutan (BoB) reportedly collected from its foreign exchange counter in about seven months. The two forex counters at the airport altogether earned close to USD 2mn.
The RMA held a modest ceremony involving airport authorities and other dzongkhag official in Paro on November 5 to observe the USD 1mn mark. The RMA has also plans to establish more such counters in the future.
