ViB Mobile pays P250,000 in royalties

Market leaders in premium licensed digital content, ViB Mobile, a subsidiary of ViB Group, has announced that it has paid over P250,000 in royalties to local musicians. “We at ViB Mobile recognise the economic impact of COVID–19 towards the Creative Industry and so, hopes the funds will be of some great assistance towards the artists. ing times like these when events have been brought to a halt due to the pandemic that’s ongoing,” ViB Mobile, sales and marketing executive, Thuto Sedimo wrote in a press release.

He added that this initiative was meant, amongst many, to boost artist digital sales, generate lucrative revenue streams for them and promote patriotism for the arts in the country.

“Since 2015, ViB Mobile has awarded local artists, royalties of over P3 million and we’re still encouragin­g digitally unsigned artists to sign with us, in order to make their music digitally accessible and diversify their revenue stream,” he said.

Sedimo also stated that ViB Mobile is wholly committed to improving the music industry and the lives of local artists.

“We want to enable local artists to generate a sustainabl­e revenue via digital streaming and downloads, and that is why we are investing our time, skill and expertise to improve and grow the digital download and streaming entertainm­ent industry,” he stated. ViB Mobile’s Chief executive officer, Leroy Monaheng, said that ViB Mobile endeavoure­d to make this part of the journey a success.

He announced that they will be launching an African music-streaming portal soon, both on web and app, which will compete with the likes of Apple Music, Spotify and others.
