Phnom Penh housing boom out of reach for most
A recently released Cambodian property survey has shone a light on housing affordability in the Cambodian capital. Online portal realestate.com.kh canvassed 5,000 respondents in Phnom Penh over a two-week period and found that, for the lion’s share of locals, owning a home was becoming increasingly out of reach.
According to the survey, 34% of residents believed local property is “moderately unaffordable” while just 16% stated that it is “moderately affordable” – however, the majority of English-speaking respondents described it as “affordable”. More than half of those who took part in the survey suggested that they have seen an increase in property prices over the past 12 months.
