Those with a fer­vent de­sire to wit­ness horns a-tootin’ and the bass a-slap­pin’ will be well-served at this year’s World Youth Jazz Fes­ti­val, hosted at Trec en­ter­tain­ment com­plex in Kuala Lumpur. The fes­ti­val’s sixth edi­tion will be staged across three nights in the Malaysian cap­i­tal and fea­tures 16 acts, from emerg­ing lo­cal tal­ents to es­tab­lished in­ter­na­tional artists. The eclec­tic ar­ray of per­form­ers in­cludes the So­phie Bright Quin­tet from London, fronted by ten-year-old wun­derkind Bright;

Harry Toledo and Tur­bu­lence of Soul, the In­done­sian stal­warts built around bass mae­stro Toledo; and Malaysian singer­song­writer Dian­dra Ar­ju­naidi, who turns out a fine line in jaunty jazz-pop. When and where? Kuala Lumpur, 5-7 May
