Cellcard speeds ahead of the competition

Southeast Asia Globe - - Agenda / Business In Brief -

Cellcard’s average 4G download speed is faster than the global average and roughly twice the speed of its nearest rival in Cambodia, according to a recent report from the wireless coverage mapping company Open Signal.

The report recorded the Cambodian telecommunications provider’s average 4G download speed at 19.7 Mbps, faster than the global average of 16.2 Mbps. The report showed that users were able to access the 4G networks of Cellcard and Smart, another leading operator, more than 70% of the time.

However, the analysis, which was based on nearly 87m measurements, also noted that the country’s average connection speed of 5.7 Mbps languished well below the global average.

While Cambodia’s mobile data infrastructure is still in its infancy, its future looks promising, Open Signal concluded.
