Yangon Stock Exchange to go online this year
The fledgling Yangon Stock Exchange (YSX) will move online this year in a move to attract more investors and stimulate growth.
Htay Chun, a member of the Myanmar Securities and Exchange Commission, said the bourse has received little interest due to companies performing below expectations. “Most activity involves traders moving existing shares to and fro rather than new companies emerging or issuances of new shares,” he said.
The shift to an online trading platform is also meant to offer more efficient transactions and greater protection through a secure trading system.
