PLAYING IS LEARNING IN EARLY YEARS
International School of Phnom Penh's International Baccalaureate programme, specialist Early Years educators and world-class learning facilities provide the perfect environment for developing curios young minds.
At International School of Phnom Penh (ISPP), we know that very young minds need nurturing, stimulating and supportive interactions with their peers and teachers. This is a time when a solid foundation can be laid to prepare children for future learning and reaching their full potential.
ISPP acknowledges that each child is unique and through the world-leading International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, their natural curiosity is built upon, providing a safe and holistic learning environment through inquiry-led play to discover and develop both positive relationships and an understanding of the world around them.
Based on the three main tenets of play, environment and relationships, our Early Years programme (part of the II3 Primary Years Programme (PYP)), has been thoughtfully designed to give 3-5 year olds a dynamic start, encouraging them to become self-aware, active and compassionate lifelong learners, alongside developing their social, emotional, physical and cognitive capacities.
Research supports the effectiveness of the IB PYP in an early years setting in preparing children for school readiness. A study by Deakin University in Australia of four such programmes in both Australia and Singapore found that children performed at levels commensurate with or better in terms of school readiness and developed learning skills at higher rates.
Upon completing the Early Years programme, your child will have the opportunity to become a highly engaged learner, ready to take their natural inquiry and curiosity, self-confidence and sense of responsibility further into the PYP and one step closer to developing into a valuable global citizen of the future.
