Can­di­dates run­ning on the Cam­bo­dia Na­tional Res­cue Party (CNRP) ticket in four prov­inces sus­pect that sol­diers sym­pa­thetic to Hun Sen’s Cam­bo­dian Peo­ple’s Party (CPP) have added them­selves il­le­gally to voter rolls in their com­munes even though they don’t live there. Dis­crep­an­cies raised by the op­po­si­tion party were met with threats from at least one CPP of­fi­cial, with the Post quot­ing De­fence Min­is­ter Tea Banh: “When they lose the elec­tion, but refuse to ac­cept and come de­mand­ing this and that, we will not al­low it… They will be beaten un­til their teeth come out.”
