From my travels
As pure escapes, Asia's beaches are at their best when they're not overrun. That's why, on a trip in March, I went for strolls along Sri Lanka's southern coast at sunrise. The only other people on the beach were surfers, who looked at me with pitied stares that seemed to ask, where’s your board? Still, we all witnessed the sun rise from the distant reaches of the Indian Ocean, an unforgettable start to another day and a great reason to get out of a comfortable bed.
