“I had the pleasure of photographing the inspired Kayu Puti restaurant at the

St. Regis Langkawi, where I met executive chef Gaetan Biesuz. He invited me to dine there, and personally attended to me, customizing a menu and presenting every dish himself. Gaetan explained his inspiration for each dish, dissecting the ingredients, flavors and textures—it was like admiring a painting while standing next to the artist. After the meal, Gaetan joined me for a glass of wine, and we sat together chatting about photography, food, wine, travel and adventure.” Instagram: @scottawoodward. —

“Picture the Maldives without the tourists, and it goes a ways toward explaining the beauty of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Thick with coconut palms, 27 coral isles form a horseshoe atoll around a turquoise lagoon that teems with marine life. More than just a pretty face, the islands have a captivating history, too. Discovered by Captain William Keeling of the East India Company in 1609, Cocos remained uninhabited until the 19th century. Annexed to Britain in 1857, the territory was strategically important to Australia in both world wars—and was handed over to Australia in 1955.” Instagram: @lees_rachel.
