Missing urn mystery twist

24 Hours Toronto - - News -

The case of a missing urn took a strange twist over the weekend as the OPP reported that a pink urn containing the ashes of a recently deceased woman had been recovered and returned to the family.

The Pembroke detachment of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are continuing their hunt for the thief. The odd bit has to do with how the urn was discovered.

Police began their investigation Sept. 2 when the urn was stolen from a residence on Garden Street in Pembroke. The family had been holding an estate/garage sale at the time.

The urn turned up a week later at another yard sale, wrapped in a paper towel and left on a table sometime during the sale. Inside the package was a note urging the finder to call the police. After the host of the second yard sale followed through, police returned the property.
