Mod­est salary in­creases on hori­zon

Hop­ing for a raise next year? Don’t start spend­ing just yet. For the sev­enth con­sec­u­tive year, Cana­dian or­ga­ni­za­tions are plan­ning just mod­er­ate base salary in­creases. The av­er­age pay in­crease for non-union­ized em­ploy­ees is pro­jected to be 2.4%, slightly higher than the ac­tual in­creases of 2.2% in 2017, ac­cord­ing to The Con­fer­ence Board of Canada’s Com­pen­sa­tion Plan­ning Out­look 2018.

Pro­jected in­creases are high­est in the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal and chem­i­cal prod­ucts in­dus­try at 2.7% and low­est in the health sec­tor at

1.6%.
