End of an era

Advertiser (Grand Falls) - - News -

September 26 marked the end of an era in Grand Falls-Windsor as the former Robinson Blackmore Printing and Publishing plant was demolished.

Hundreds of issues of The Advertiser and other community newspapers in Newfoundland and Labrador rolled off the presses in this building.

Past and present Advertiser staff spent many hours working from this location, which will see a new car dealership in its place.

Our Facebook followers had similar sentiments when it came to seeing the building dismantled:

Must be a sad, heart-felt sight for those who worked there. I know the feeling from watching the mill get torn down just up the road from where I live. This was a historic treasure for the community and it will be deeply missed.

In 1988 RB at Grand Falls employed 114 full-time employees.

I was a summer student reporter there for two years, sad to see it go.

Worked a lot of years in this building. Met and worked with many good people. What a shame!!

Josh Skanes, this is where you came to do your first paper route back in 2003.
