Killick hosts 5th Terry Fox Walk
Killick Retirement Home in Botwood completed its fifth annual Terry Fox walk, contributing to the cancer research Terry Fox started all those years ago.
Roxanne Smart and her team of Killick volunteers and employees had everyone ready to go as the Botwood Fire Department sent along a town truck to lead the walk.
Participants walked from the Killick to the Dr. Hugh Twomey Health Centre and back. They returned to the home for refreshments, including a cake cut by Mabel Brent, one of the Killick’s original 10 residents.
Smart thanked residents, staff and family members who came out to support the walk. A final total will be known after the Killick hosts its craft fair later in October.
Mabel Brent, who participated in the fifth annual Terry Fox walk at Killick Retirement Home, had the honor of cutting this year’s cake. Mabel is one of the original 10 people who moved into the Killick when it opened its doors 10 years ago.
