Northern Arm Day
The Recreation committee of Northern Arm are having Northern Arm Day July 21 with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. from the Hemeon Hall by the firefighters. At 11 a.m. food and games will be available at the Arthur Jackman Memorial Playground. Along with food and games there will be live music during the day including the band Recall.
The town of Peterview will be hosting Peterview Day on July 21 with more information to follow.
Team Heathers Hope will be having a Paint Nite on July 18 from 7-9 p.m. at the Botwood Kin Centre in Botwood. If you want to attend the registration is $30 and can email the money to Janis Peyton at bjanispeyton@hotmail. com. The picture will be a beach scene as Heather loved the beach. Come out and support cancer research.
The Botwood Mural Arts Society is asking anyone who has recyclables to please donate them to our group as part of a fundraiser for the upcoming Global Mural Conference. The conference will take place in Botwood from Sept. 12-15. Artists from all over the world will be visiting our town at that time. Many thanks for all your support in helping make this special event happen.
Botwood Kinsmen Bingo
The Botwood Kinsmen Bingo is taking the summer off and will return in September to play again. The Kinsmen Club wishes to thank the businesses who sell the cards and all the players who support the Kinsmen to serve the communities greatest needs. Have a safe and fun summer see you all in September.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 Botwood proudly presents “Ring of Fire: A Johnny Cash Experience” on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. at Botwood Legion 7 Circular Road, Botwood. Come out and see one of Canada’s premiere Johnny Cash tribute bands from Ontario. Cost is $20 advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Legion in Botwood or online at www.EXPERIENCECASH.com
With the warmer weather approaching, conservation of water is recommended and watering lawns and washing vehicles is asked to be done early morning or late evening time period.
Residents of Botwood are asked if there is interest in starting an adult curling league in the fall. If you are interested leave your name at 257-2839 and someone will contact you in the fall if there is enough interest. Playing Thursday nights for curling to be decided in the fall.
Come Home Year 2020
Botwood will be celebrating a Come Home Year in 2020 from July 24-Aug. 3, 2020. If you or your groups would like to host an event or be involved in an event can contact the Come Home committee when more details are available.
Pig Roast/Show and Shine for Cystic Fibrosis
The Riverside Riders Motorcycle club will be hosting their fourth annual Pig Roast and Show and Shine Motor cycle show on July 14 at the Riverside Riders club house in Peterview. There will be burgers, hot dogs and of course pig dinners available. Come out to show your bike or vote on the best bikes around stay for the dance to follow later in the evening. The riders are also selling tickets on a motorcycle themed quilt at a $1 each with proceeds going to cystic fibrosis for the ticket draw and show and shine proceeds. More details to follow as they become available.
Variety Concert DVD Sale
The Botwood Fire Department will be selling DVDs of the variety concert this year. The cost of the DVD will be $15. If there is an interest just leave a message and we’ll be in touch.
Chase the Ace Lottery
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5, Botwood, on Wednesdays from 7-8:45 p.m. Tickets are three for $5. Draw held at 9 p.m. There is a 50/50 draw each night. Tickets are sold at the Legion. Must be 19 years of age to attend.
