At least five months be­fore be­gin­ning con­struc­tion across any wa­ter­way, Trans Moun­tain must pro­vide the NEB with an in­ven­tory of ev­ery wa­ter­way the new pipe­line will cross, in­clud­ing the wa­ter­way’s name, the lo­ca­tion of the cross­ing, the con­struc­tion time­line, de­tailed de­scrip­tions of the pres­ence of fish and on­shore wildlife and their habi­tat. The com­pany must also pro­vide de­sign draw­ings of the pro­posed cross­ing and al­ter­na­tive cross­ings, and up­stream and down­stream photographs of the cross­ing site. Trans Moun­tain must min­i­mize all im­pacts on habi­tats at the cross­ing and con­sult with abo­rig­i­nal groups to gain eco­log­i­cal knowl­edge about best prac­tices for do­ing so.
