Habs fans are in luck.

The Montreal Canadiens Alumni Tour will include a stop at the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick March 29.

Town of Berwick active living co-ordinator Katie Verrette is prepping to be a force to be reckoned with between the pipes for the Selects.

“Everybody’s going to make sure I’m at the top of my game. I’ve been playing men’s rec league all year so I’ve been practicing and I think I’m going to be ready to go,” she said.

Verrette started playing hockey when she was four, and discovered her love of goaltending at six. Her passion for the game, coupled with hard work, led to stints at a prep school in the United States and a five-year tenure with a varsity squad at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish.

“I am ready. I’m a born and raised Toronto Maple Leafs fan, so it makes it really exciting to play against Montreal. I hope I come out with a big win for the team,” she said.

The Berwick Selects roster will include local players of various ages, Verrette added.

“I hope everybody will be there to cheer us along.”

General admission tickets are selling for $20, and VIP passes that will include a meet and greet component are $50. Tickets can be purchased at the town hall in Berwick.
