Kingston area ve­hi­cle thefts pinned to one youth

A 17-year-old youth has been charged af­ter two re­cent ve­hi­cle thefts in the Kingston area.

The first ve­hi­cle, a 2011 BMW, was re­ported stolen from a drive­way in Wil­mot on Christ­mas Day. The sec­ond, a 2013 Ford Edge, dis­ap­peared from a Kingston sub­di­vi­sion on Jan. 25.

As re­sult of an on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion, Kings Dis­trict RCMP spokesper­son Const. Kelli Gaudet said a search war­rant was is­sued on Feb. 18.

The youth, who can­not be named, is fac­ing six charges. They in­clude: two counts of ve­hi­cle of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle, two counts of mis­chief over $5,000 and two counts of tak­ing a ve­hi­cle with­out con­sent.

The Kingston ve­hi­cle owner, who lives in Raven­wood Sub­di­vi­sion, told The An­napo­lis Val­ley Reg­is­ter ear­lier that she found pieces of her ve­hi­cle by some nearby trees as well as tracks across a neigh­bour’s lawn.

The ve­hi­cle was later found near the aban­doned rail­road tracks be­hind the Tim Hor­ton’s in Kingston.
