Kingston area vehicle thefts pinned to one youth
A 17-year-old youth has been charged after two recent vehicle thefts in the Kingston area.
The first vehicle, a 2011 BMW, was reported stolen from a driveway in Wilmot on Christmas Day. The second, a 2013 Ford Edge, disappeared from a Kingston subdivision on Jan. 25.
As result of an ongoing investigation, Kings District RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelli Gaudet said a search warrant was issued on Feb. 18.
The youth, who cannot be named, is facing six charges. They include: two counts of vehicle of a motor vehicle, two counts of mischief over $5,000 and two counts of taking a vehicle without consent.
The Kingston vehicle owner, who lives in Ravenwood Subdivision, told The Annapolis Valley Register earlier that she found pieces of her vehicle by some nearby trees as well as tracks across a neighbour’s lawn.
The vehicle was later found near the abandoned railroad tracks behind the Tim Horton’s in Kingston.
