Annapolis RCMP pulls out all the stops for Police Week fun
When the gates open on Police Week activities at Rotary Park May 13, there will be helicopters, boats, fire trucks, at least one ambulance, and search and rescue vehicles.
Did we mention cop cars, cake, and a barbecue? And it’s all free.
Annapolis District RCMP is inviting the public to celebrate National Police Week and Canada 150 on May 13 on Rotary Park in Middleton.
National Police Week runs May 16 to 20 and provides the public a chance to meet local police officers and learn about the people, services and equipment that make up Canada’s national police force, said Const. David Fairfax.
On May 13, Annapolis District RCMP will host a public open house at Rotary Park featuring RCMP members, senior safety, and Annapolis Valley Traffic Services.
He said in addition, many of the RCMP’S community partners will be there including Canadian military personnel, members of fire services from throughout Annapolis District, EHS, Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue, Department of Natural Resources, Crime Stoppers, MADD, Neighborhood Watch, and others.
Although it’s not confirmed yet, rumour has it as many as three helicopters could be there. And if last year’s open house is any indication, the choppers will be a big attraction with kids getting tours of the big machines.
“Annapolis District RCMP will also take this opportunity to celebrate Canada 150,” said Fairfax. “Join us for the official proclamation and cake-cutting at 1 p.m.”
Middleton Fire Department will be providing a barbecue on site during the event.
The Annapolis District RCMP open house will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Rotary Park on Marshall Street in Middleton. Everyone is welcome to join your local RCMP for a day of family-friendly fun and celebration.
This Cormorant helicopter was a big hit with kids during last year’s Police Week open house at Rotary Park in Middleton. The event is back this year on May 13 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the park on Marshall Street in Middleton.
