Yvonne Casey and daugh­ter Da­nine Birkholm of Calgary ar­rived in Nova Sco­tia May 14. On the way home from the air­port, they stopped into Danny and Joanne Lutz’s home in Lake Paul. That was on Mother’s Day and Joanne had her mother, Eileen Casey, Ber­wick, in at­ten­dance as a sup­per guest. Yvonne is Eileen’s sis­ter. In ad­di­tion to Eileen, other sup­per guests were Jeremiah and Jes­sica Lutz. While here, Yvonne and Da­nine stayed at Yvonne’s other sis­ter’s home, Eleanor and Leon Zwicker, in East Dal­housie and vis­ited with other fam­ily mem­bers.

On May 20th, Eleanor Zwicker hosted an 80th birth­day party for her sis­ter, Eileen Casey, at her home in East Dal­housie. This was also a farewell party for Yvonne and Da­nine who were re­turn­ing home the fol­low­ing day. There were 28 peo­ple in at­ten­dance. Eileen re­ceived cards, gifts and flow­ers. On her ac­tual birth­day, May 24, So­nia Gaul, Kentville, paid her a visit.

At the Ber­wick Li­brary May 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Book Club 150 fea­tures Christy Ann Con­lin. Fairy cakes and haunted tea pro­vided.

On June 1, the Christ Church lun­cheons start up at 238 Com­mer­cial Street, Ber­wick. Same great food and peo­ple – casseroles, meat dishes, sal­ads, home­made bread and rolls and de­lec­ta­ble desserts. The time is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost is $10. Come on out and en­joy.

At the South Ber­wick Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, May 23, the fol­low­ing were the win­ners of 45s: first, Shirley Rogers; sec­ond, Calvin Ward; third, Judy Drew. The last card party in the hall is May 30.

At the Re­bekah Hall, May 20, there were four ta­bles of 45s in play. Prizewin­ners were first, Arthur Sals­man; sec­ond, Roxie Red­den; third, Carol Gar­land.
