Boost Metabolism, Burn Fat, Balance Hormones!
After a wonderful summer season, it is not uncommon for many of us to pack on a few extra pounds. Whether you have 5, 15 or 50 pounds to lose – the fall is an ideal time of year to start a new weight loss journey and finally become your best self. If you are like many and have tried every fad diet in the world– it is time to STOP! Yo yo dieting and fluctuations of weight will eventually lead to a sluggish metabolism and further weight gain. The diets that are “red flags” and are best to avoid are: • diets that recommend less than 1000 calories/day; • diets that completely eliminate one of the three macronutrients — carbohydrates, protein or fats; • diets that promise long term “rapid” weight loss; • diets that offer a magic bullet approach. What is the answer for long term weight loss success? Hormonal balance and quality calories! Hormonal weight loss implements a specific approach to eating that allows the individual to lose weight, boost energy and enter a disease prevention mode. In a nut shell, the basis of hormonal weight loss balances the interplay between insulin (the fat storage hormone) and glucagon (the hormone the breaks down fat) to help the individual lose weight. Research is very clear that losing weight is not just a "calories in and calories out" approach. Blood sugars and hormones are the key to long term success. Symptoms you will experience if you are out of hormonal balance may include; • low energy; • fatigue after eating a meal; • sugar cravings (cravings are not a sign that you are weak! Rather, they are an indication that you are hormonally and biochemically “off” due to faulty food choices); • excess fat storage especially around the abdominal region. When picking any weight loss program, a key question you should ask yourself is, “Can I see myself following a version of this program within a 5 year period?” If the answer is no, don’t do it! Your weight loss approach should be sustainable and easy to maintain at any age or any stage. This way, you will hit your goal weight and lose the weight for life!
