The Call of the Land
written by "I love to Paint and I Paint what I love"
Heather Pant was born in Davenport, Iowa, and then adopted and raised by her loving, adoptive parents in Elmhurst, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. A wonderful place to grow up, where the art culture is fabulous. From an early age, Heather was always surrounded by great architecture, museums and galleries. Early in her career she pursued graphic design, and painted on the side for many years. She had a few gallery shows in Chicago and, as a member of the Wheaton art league, participated in different art events. "I did portraits on the side to make extra money," says Heather, "but I really had a calling to paint the land, so I slowly developed into a landscape painter." Heather was lucky that her adopted mother, Charlotte, pushed her to be creative and follow her heart. Heather gives Charlotte credit for putting the first paint brush in her hand. But it was her birth mother, Paula, who gave Heather her genetic make-up; and the ability to use the paint brush. "Later, it was my husband who pushed me to pursue the dream and live by the paint brush."
