WORLD 77 killed in Iraq at­tacks

Bagh­dad: Iraqi se­cu­rity forces and al­lied mili­tias clashed with Is­lamic State (IS) mil­i­tants across Iraq, as the ex­trem­ist mil­i­tants gained ground in Salahudin province, se­cu­rity sources said. In Iraq’s north­ern cen­tral province of Salahudin, IS mil­i­tants took con­trol of Tal Abu Jrad area east of the bat­tle­ground town of Baiji, some 200 km north of Iraq’s cap­i­tal Bagh­dad, af­ter days of heavy clashes with the se­cu­rity forces and al­lied mili­tias, a se­cu­rity source told Xin­hua news agency. The bat­tles in the area left at least one po­lice of­fi­cer and four po­lice­men dead, the source said.
