Seven killed in heavy rain in China province

Bei­jing: At least seven peo­ple are con­firmed to have died and 15 re­main miss­ing af­ter heavy rain from late Tues­day to Wed­nes­day lashed Yun­nan province of south­west China, lo­cal author­i­ties said. In Changn­ing county, two peo­ple were killed and five were still miss­ing af­ter tor­ren­tial rain from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. caused land­slides in the town­ships of Tianyuan and Mang­shui. Thirty-five houses col­lapsed while 119 houses were dam­aged. In Huap­ing county, heavy rain trig­gered floods from higher ground, which killed five, in­jured 15 oth­ers and 10 peo­ple re­mained miss­ing. The floods also caused 810 houses to col­lapse and swept away 610 cars.
