Sur­rey man ar­rested with co­caine worth $1.7 mil­lion

Stony Plain, Al­berta: A 66-year-old man from Sur­rey has been charged with one count of pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing by RCMP near Stony Plain, Al­berta. K-Divi­sion Moun­ties were work­ing on High­way 16 near Stony Plain on Satur­day when they pulled over an SUV for a ve­hi­cle equip­ment vi­o­la­tion and in­ves­ti­ga­tion ended up with 17 kilo­grams of co­caine. Staff Sgt. Brent Meyer said the of­fi­cer who stopped the ve­hi­cle found “in­di­ca­tions” that the man driv­ing might have been trans­port­ing drugs. Po­lice Ser­vice Dog ‘Henri’ was de­ployed, in­di­cat­ing the pres­ence of a con­trolled sub­stance as he is trained to de­tect. Po­lice lo­cated within the ve­hi­cle ap­prox­i­mately 17 kilo­grams of Co­caine, with an es­ti­mated street value of 1.7 mil­lion dol­lars. S/Sgt.
