Surrey man arrested with cocaine worth $1.7 million
Stony Plain, Alberta: A 66-year-old man from Surrey has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking by RCMP near Stony Plain, Alberta. K-Division Mounties were working on Highway 16 near Stony Plain on Saturday when they pulled over an SUV for a vehicle equipment violation and investigation ended up with 17 kilograms of cocaine. Staff Sgt. Brent Meyer said the officer who stopped the vehicle found “indications” that the man driving might have been transporting drugs. Police Service Dog ‘Henri’ was deployed, indicating the presence of a controlled substance as he is trained to detect.
