Sad to hear of the death of another World War II veteran. A member of the famed Black Watch Regiment, George Shumko died on January 12th in his 95th year. A former resident of Montreal East, George and his wife, Olive who passed away 6 years ago, raised their children, Carole, Phyllis and George in their home on St. Catherine Street. George was particularly proud of his role as a member of the Royal Alexandria Masonic Lodge. Like so many veterans, George was a kind gentleman, an unselfish individual. Very special during the funeral service to hear the glowing comments of the grandchildren. Our thoughts go out to the family. He will be dearly missed!
