Plans to add a new Kindermuseum to the Jewish Museum Berlin are closer to fruition, following the announcement that Alan Maskin, principal at Seattle firm olson Kundig, has won the commission. Maskin’s proposal, which includes an architectural plan as well as interactive installations, was selected through a two-stage international design competition, which set a Noah’s Ark theme for the institution.
White Arkitekter’s copenhagen office is set to design 115 homes that will comprise a new neighbourhood outside the Danish capital. the innovative social housing project will be surrounded by nature and will be constructed using sustainable materials. the project is targeting a 2018 completion date.
Australia’s most iconic landmark, the Sydney opera House, is set to undergo its first major renovation since opening in 1973. the $200 million, publicly funded project will improve access to the attraction and include a redesign of the main concert hall by Melbourne firm ARM Architecture. the building, famous for its sail-like roof, was named a World Heritage Site in 2007, just a year before the death of its architect, Jørn Utzon.
